John has been designing custom projects for more than 20 years. He studied architecture, wood construction and design, and graduated from the U of I in 1995. John spent many years drawing log and conventionally framed homes, as well as engineered trusses before joining SOK in 2019. He enjoys helping clients integrate creativity, uniqueness and functionality in their projects.
John lives in Bonners Ferry, ID with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys working on projects in his shop, traveling and spending time with his family.

As a child, Rob Wiese dreamed of racing cars. However, his mom wasn’t too thrilled about the ambitious idea. So, when he showed interest and talent in drawing and architecture, she fully embraced the idea and began checking out Frank Lloyd Wright books at the library.
His passion for creating buildings led Rob to Washington State University, where he received an undergrad and graduate degree in architecture. As a licensed architect with 17 years of industry experience, Rob is excited to join the SOK design studio team.
Rob spent most of his career working on large-scale projects, including higher education, K-12 schools, and government buildings worldwide. He’ll now use his unique skill set to create dream homes for clients around the Pacific Northwest.
When he’s not at work, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife, Lisa, and their beautiful baby girl, Darla.

As a child, Zach Hanson vividly remembers being drawn to architecture and how space affected his feelings. His dad was a manufacturing engineer, so he moved a lot and experienced a variety of homes and spaces. This unique childhood inspired his passion for architecture.
A few years ago, Zach received a degree in Architecture Technology. Now, Zach is an Architectural Technologist with SOK design studio. Zach brings design ideas to life through several architecture design computer programs. This process allows clients to virtually see and walk through their custom home before the foundation is poured.
Zach’s favorite part of the job is being creative and helping clients envision their dream homes. When he’s not at work, you’ll find Zach shredding on his snowboard at Schweitzer Mountain, fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

As an individual with family ties to the construction industry in eastern Washington and north Idaho, I understand the value of teamwork, integrity, and commitment to client satisfaction. These values plus my strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask makes me a quality project architect and project manager. It has been noted that rising tides carry all boats. As a project architect and project manager, I view the “boats” as client satisfaction and dedicate myself to “rising the tide” through clear communication to focus on the details necessary to achieve success in construction contract development, delivery, and administration for local public and private clients.
My professional expertise is code reviews, specification preparation, construction drawing preparation, and contract administration for commercial, institutional, industrial, mixed-use, multi-family, and residential projects with values ranging from $500,000 to $19,000,000. As a more recent member of the SOK design studio team, I look forward to applying my skill set to take your project from schematic design into contract documents and successful completion.
